Soft washing is a cleaning method used to remove dirt, algae, mold, mildew, and other organic stains from exterior surfaces such as roofs, siding, decks, fences, and concrete. Unlike pressure washing, which utilizes high-pressure water to remove grime, soft washing employs a low-pressure system combined with specialized cleaning solutions.

The process involves applying a biodegradable detergent or cleaning solution to the surface, which is designed to break down and kill organic growth. The cleaning solution is typically a blend of water, surfactants, bleach or another biocide, and sometimes a mildewcide or algaecide. The solution is then applied using a low-pressure, but with a high volume of water allowing it to penetrate the surface and effectively clean without causing damage.

After the cleaning solution is applied, it is left on the surface for a specific period, typically around 10 to 15 minutes, to allow it to work on loosening and killing the organic matter. Finally, the surface is rinsed with low-pressure water, removing the dissolved grime, cleaning solution residue, and any remaining debris.

Soft washing is preferred over high-pressure washing for certain surfaces and materials that are more delicate or prone to damage, such as roofs, painted surfaces, stucco, and wood. By using low-pressure and specialized cleaning solutions, soft washing minimizes the risk of causing harm while still effectively cleaning and restoring the appearance of the treated surfaces.
